Jesmond Dene House is an award-winning 4 Red Star hotel and 2-Rosette restaurant situated in a leafy suburb of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 5 minutes from the City Centre. Overlooking the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, this historic property contains 40 bedrooms, a restaurant, and extensive banqueting and private dining facilities. Newcastle's only independent boutique hotel, Jesmond Dene House is an unusual combination of townhouse and country house in one.
Priding ourselves on our levels of service, we are seeking a customer focused individual with experience in hospitality who can champion our four red star standards, providing the guests with a memorable experience.
Working in a fast paced environment, you should be an organised individual with great communication skills. No two days are the same, you will be the face of JDH dealing with guests who are here to stay with us, or those that have come in for a meal directing them to Fern Dining Room & Bar. Dealing with all requests both in person and over the phone makes for a varied day.
Hours of Work
We are looking for a Receptionist who has the ability to work on a flexible basis
Reception shifts are between the hours of 07:45 - 21:00
Typical shift patterns consist of 07:45 - 16:15 / 09:30 - 18:00 / 11:30 - 21:00 / 16:00 - 21:00 though may vary dependant on business needs
Areas of Responsibility
- Full knowledge of the hotel, our facilities and the surrounding areas
- Taking bedroom and restaurant reservations to a 4 Red Star Standard
- Checking guests in and out of the hotel
- Taking guests to their bedrooms on check in
- Dealing with all requests that are asked at reception
- Upselling / cross selling of departments, offering table reservations to residents & promoting room upgrades
- Completing the daily banking at reception to ensure balanced shifts
- Completing daily arrival checks, liaising with Housekeeping to ensure all requests are in hand
- Being aware of all VIPs checking in
- Have a full understand of what is happening in the hotel on the day, i.e. the daily functions & where to direct the guests
- Selling Gift Vouchers both by phone & in person
