Vacant Job Position: Quality Inspector

Role & Key Responsibilities:
The role is responsible for carrying out quality checks to Company and ISO 9001 Standards and specific Customer requirements, to determine quality metrics and ensure they meet the required tolerances. The role will also support management to meet all Quality targets and deliver a first class service for the Company and its internal and external stakeholders through managing communications and inbound and outbound correspondence and documentation. It will predominantly be office based with a crossover to the Production side of the business.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
- Collate and support the process completion of First Article and Initial Sample Inspection Reports (FAIR’s and ISIR’s) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to customer requirements on a continual basis
- Ensure the appropriate procedures, standards and specifications are being adhered to as per the Quality Management System (QMS) and customer requirements
- Work with Goods In to initiate a quarantine area and inspect purchased parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements
- Carry out dimensional and visual quality inspections and pre work requirements on work in-progress and finished products including First Article Inspections and Initial Sample Inspections using the relevant equipment
- Communicate all inspection reports with line managers responsible for the areas being inspected and report any non-conformances in line with the Company NCR process
- Investigate with the relevant line managers /staff and write up Non-Conformance Reports both internally and in externally, Including completion CARs and SCARs
- Input NCRs on to the NCR Register, liaising with the management over the completion of related monthly Management Reports
- Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated, maintained and measured testing variables in line with the calibration system
- Observe the methods and equipment the manufacturing staff use during production and providing feedback to line managers to correct errors and increase efficiency
- In conjunction with management, perform root cause analysis, problem solving activities and development of corrective action strategies including development and writing of Process Flow Charts, Control Plans, FMEAs and SOPs
- Support the Compliance Manager in the efficient running of the QMS System and attainment of ISO and UKCA/CE accreditations and to conform to individual customer quality standards, including Audits (internal, customer, supplier, re-certification)
- Support the Operations Manager by identifying continuous improvement opportunities and progress related actions to improve company efficiencies and reduce non-conformance in line with the Company KPI targets
- Attend Department/Management/Quality Meetings to assist in moving the department forward
- Support agenda and complete minutes for Department Meetings and Quarterly Quality Meetings
- Assist in the training of team members and of new Quality Equipment and any related Software
- Provide holiday and unplanned absence cover
- Any other reasonable management request.
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes:
- Good understanding of how to conduct FAIRs and ISIRs essential
- Ability to write level 2 and level 3 PPAP documents essential
- Good knowledge of ISO and maintaining Standards essential
- Understanding of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)/Control Plans, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effective Analysis), and Process Flow Charts essential
- Previous quality inspection experience in a fabrication manufacturing environment essential
- Proficient in the understanding of engineer, fabrication, laser and paint / finish production methods/process
- Experience using calibrated inspection measurement tools such as tapes, squares, micro meters, verniers etc essential
- Excellent knowledge of industry standards in relation to finishes and acceptable tolerances essential
- Ability to read, interpret and work directly from engineering drawings essential
- Experience of working in a fast pace environment essential
- PC literate – Familiar with MS packages, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams essential
- Internal audit qualification desirable
- Experience of Compliance and Quality software a distinct advantage
- Experience in the use of Quality measurement equipment desirable
