The Welding Trainer role is based within our Defence Training business area.
The role
The difference our new Welding Trainer will make
As a Welding Trainer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be making a difference to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers supporting their training and development.
Day to day, you’ll deliver welder training utilising MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW, TIG and OA to military trainees aged 17 years and over, conduct visual and destructive testing of welds.
You’ll also support trainees with any specific learning difficulties (SPLD’s), conduct assessments, invigilation and marking of practical, theoretical examinations and weekly progression tests, regularly review course material and content to ensure it is current and evolves to support new equipment and technological advances along with ensuring trainees develop through mentoring and coaching.

Essential experience
- A welding related apprenticeship and/or qualification to a recognised Level 2 acceptable
- Supervisor/coaching experience would be beneficial however, not essential
- Proven experience in a welding environment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
- DBS cleared or willing to undergo clearance
- You must hold or have the ability to obtain BPSS Baseline Security Standard clearance
