The opportunity
Project: We are looking for a senior project manager to join our New Prisons Programme, delivering modern and efficient jails that will boost rehabilitation and cut reoffending.
The new prisons programme is an exciting programme of four new prisons to be constructed at locations across the UK, using modern methods of construction. Each prison will be all-electric and able to operate as net zero carbon.
Initially based from our Manchester office during the pre-construction phase, as scheme transitions to construction phase the team will co-locate with the main contractor on site in Lancashire, providing hands on monitoring and problem solving throughout the construction phase.
Your responsibilities will include:
Working closely with the new prisons programme leadership team to promote the programme’s aspirations for collaboration, sustainability, data led delivery and modern methods construction.
Managing a team of project managers and other specialists to deliver in line with client objectives.
Contributing to project delivery strategy, including packaging of works and delivery implementation processes.
Managing production and technical assurance of the design and other deliverables required for contract award.
Leading a small team of technical reviewers to evaluate design approvals, and managing technical issues as they arise.
Working with a commercial consultant to manage change, risk and achieve value for money.
Managing the delivery phase through to successful handover and occupation.
Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with the client, main contractor and stakeholders.
Maintaining regular, accurate reporting across a range of platforms.
Coordinating, planning and managing internal and external meetings about the project.
Managing the contract award process, developing works information and supporting schedules to form the basis of the NEC ECC scope.
Managing change in an efficient manner and in accordance with the NEC contract and client governance process.
Tracking planning and other consents necessary for successful completion, identifying and implementing corrective actions where required.
Monitoring site progress, leading regular strategic programme reviews and providing feedback to the contractor and client.
Contributing to risk management and work with project team to identify, schedule, and establish mitigation strategies for project risks.
About you
You have a good understanding of pre-construction processes (briefing, design, procurement) as well as an awareness of construction delivery and have experience of line management and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams. You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.
