We are seeking an enthusiastic Training and Behaviour Advisor (TBA) to take responsibility for assessing and then designing and implementing behavioral rehabilitation of dogs in our semi-rural Rehoming Centre in Bridgend, South Wales.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.

Our rehoming centres house thousands of dogs each year until they are able to find a loving new home, and the success of our centres wouldn't be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers; there is a real family-community within each of our centres. Come rain or shine, our team are out in all weathers to make sure the dogs have the best possible life. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our rehoming centres are the face of Dogs Trust and we pride ourselves on our staff providing the very best in customer service.

In this role you will take responsibility for assessing pre-intake and newly arrived dogs and designing and implementing dog training and behaviour modification programs for these and other dogs in our care. You'll also be responsible for training Canine Carers to implement behavioural training programs and for advising members of the public in the handling and training of dogs adopted from Dogs Trust. The successful individual will have a thorough knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare, including understanding the principles underlying learning and the ability to write training and behaviour programs. You'll have excellent communication skills with the ability to handle delicate situations sensitively and professionally, and have the ability to and experience in handling challenging behaviour in dogs. But above all you'll be passionate and committed to the work of Dogs Trust.

A full, clean, manual driving licence is essential, as driving will be a part of the role. Further, the centre is in a semi-rural position and does not have nearby transport links, so access to a vehicle is essential.

We are recruiting for this post on a rolling basis, and may interview suitable applicants before the closing date. Therefore, early applications are advised.

To apply for this position, please send your CV and cover letter explaining your interest in and suitability for the role by clicking the APPLY NOW button.

At Dogs Trust we value diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, abilities and cultures and believe that a diverse workforce will help us to achieve our mission. Should you need any adjustments to the recruitment process, either at application or interview stage, please contact us here.
