James Fisher Renewables provides comprehensive and trusted offshore wind farm solutions dedicated to the technical and operational aspects of construction preparation, installation, and specialist operation & maintenance.
The Control Engineers (CE) will oversee operations within the EDS HV Control Centre and will provide the interface point between the site operational teams, NG ESO, and the wind farm Generators. They will be responsible for supporting 24/7 control centre operations in accordance with the requirements of the various asset management agreements in place, whilst also attending operational sites to support the HV transmission teams during planned network outages and fault responses works.
Key Responsibilities:

Control and coordinate safety activities across the Company’s portfolio of sites, up to and including 400kV voltage level. This will include preparation and approval of switching schedules, and the instruction and confirmation of safety precautions to achieve safety from the system.

Support the Operations Managers and Control Room Manager in the day-to-day operations of the business, aiding in the management of company resources and logistics to ensure that the operational demands of the business are met.

Be responsible for ensuring that the processes, systems, and Equipment required to service the control room are fit for purpose. Where update or changes are need the Control Engineer will manage these and present business cases as required.

The Control Engineer will have a Management Responsibility for the 24/7 Surveillance Team.

Provide on-site SAP support for the Asset Management team during planned and fault response transmission network outages.

Maintain and develop a strong relationship with Clients and ensuring that the highest quality service is delivered, while managing customer expectations and seeking improvements with the use of customer feedback

Develop and mentor junior engineering staff

Operate as a Control Person under the EDS and specific Clients Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role you must have experience operating as a Senior Authorised Person or experience operating as a Control Person. You must also have experience in the implementation of High Voltage safety precautions, fault response, location, and repair management. You should have qualifications in an Electrical Engineering related discipline and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be a highly adaptable person, aiding in supporting rapid growth and demands of the business.
