The Role:
We have identified a requirement for an Investment Research Analyst to join our team. You will be required in this role to conduct and communicate high quality investment research analysis in a professional and efficient manner, with an understanding of capital markets and or the asset management industry including the increasing importance of responsible investing. The role will be to provide analyst support to the Equity, Fixed Income, Real Asset and Responsible Investment research teams.
Key responsibilities will include:

Provide support to the team on maintaining market views and market background commentary

Providing support on passive investing research
-
Providing input into investment thought pieces and white papers
-
Develop a good understanding of the main asset classes (main return drivers and key risks) and their respective manager peer groups (equity, fixed income, real assets).

Support in providing high quality, credible manager research to internal consultants and clients
-
Support in carrying out manager searches for Local Government clients
-
Assist in writing client papers on asset class and managers, including selection exercises and monitoring

Analysis of portfolios to build understanding of key financial, style, climate and ESG characteristics

Assist in providing insightful manager commentary and recommendations

Develop and maintain professional relationships with multiple external investment managers and clients

Build strong relationships with external managers, whilst maintaining the Firm’s reputation for independence and integrity

Be proactive in sharing new ideas and approaches across the Investment Business Unit
-
Develop strong working relationships within the investment research team, providing analytical support to team members
-
Develop strong working relationships with Investment consultants, supporting them in their client work
-
Understand key topical issues for clients
-
Be familiar with and comply with the Investment Practice internal Controls and Compliance audit
-
Adhering to the firm's Information Security standards, policies and procedures
-
Achieve individual Utilisation Targets for Client Work and Investment Research etc.

Assisting in budgeting and planning for investment research projects
Skills and Qualifications Required
Qualifications:
-
Strong degree in economics, sustainability, finance, maths or other highly numerate discipline, or with equivalent experience

Working towards CFA qualification or comparable, or willingness to, or with equivalent experience
Skills:
-
Some understanding of capital markets and financial assets, including responsible investing, with a strong desire to develop

General understanding of economics and corporate strategy
-
Established report writing skills
-
Proven project management experience and multi-tasking ability
-
First class IT skills (in particular Microsoft Excel)
-
An understanding of the UK pensions industry
