Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for over 1500 boys, with over one hundred boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.
This is an extremely exciting and unique opportunity for an outstanding person to lead and shape this large Music department. Whitgift is a highly stimulating and rewarding school in which to work; a new Vision for Whitgift 2025 has recently been developed, and the School is now embarking on the challenge of implementing these values. The successful candidate will have extensive support from senior colleagues, but there is also the opportunity for considerable innovation and flexibility as to how our thriving Music department will develop over the coming years.
We are looking for a well-qualified and inspirational graduate musician. Outstanding leadership, organisational and people skills will be essential. The successful candidate will be leading a team of creative teachers and musicians alongside a large number of highly motivated Visiting Music Teachers, and support staff. Whitgift offers Music at GCSE, A Level and IB, and the post-holder would be expected to champion Music in its co-curricular and academic form in equal measures. They will also be passionate in developing opportunities to celebrate every pupil’s effort and achievement both in the classroom and on the concert platform.
