Marketing Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Chinese Historical Society of America seeks an energetic and qualified professional to serve as its
Marketing Manager. The Marketing Manager’s goal is to effectively and engagingly promote CHSA’s brand and products, contribute to the planning and implementation of marketing strategies, managing related budgets, and preparing workplans and market forecasts to support the mission and vision of
CHSA by expanding awareness, engaging the community, attracting new members and increasing overall branding and product promotion. Central deliverables for this role include producing an annual marketing plan with quarterly updates and reorientations, setting key performance indicators, and providing reports on success and challenges. The position reports to the Development Director and participates actively in collaborations with staff and community partners. Additionally, the Manager is in a public-facing role, interacting frequently with politicians, funders, artists, educators and members of the general public. CHSA has a collaborative culture; as with all staff, the Manager acts to support teamwork, open communication, trust, and respect among peers. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires weekend and some evening work.
MARKETING MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Devise and manage marketing initiatives, including traditional and digital media.
● Convert development goals into actionable marketing plans.
● Perform marketing research within each community to better identify target audiences and needs.
● Provide written content for branded emails, social media posts and campaigns, offline marketing material, web based stories and blogs.
● Utilize research findings to generate leads and maintain consistent reach, awareness, and opportunities for growth.
● Plan and administer community outreach and initiate new collaborations within each CHSA community.
● Work with senior management to better learn what CHSA needs are in order to better market and promote our brand at community events.
● Plans and develops communications to support marketing objectives.
● Collects data to continually improve quality and effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
● Evaluating and optimizing marketing and pricing strategies, analyzing market trends and preparing forecasts to increase brand awareness, market share and generating new business leads.
● Coordinating marketing strategies with the Fund Development, Education, Public Programs, Gift
Shop and Archive/Exhibitions departments.
● Developing and managing the marketing department's budget.
● Overseeing branding, advertising, and promotional campaigns.
● Preparing and presenting monthly, quarterly and annual reports to senior management.
● Other duties as assigned.
Marketing Manager Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, business administration, or similar.
● A master's degree in a relevant field will be advantageous.
● At least two years' experience as a marketing manager.
● Proficiency in electronic marketing automation software such as MailChimp.
● Extensive knowledge of marketing strategies, channels, and branding.
● Superb leadership, communication, and collaboration abilities.
● Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Strong time management and organizational abilities.
● Coordinate and draft all copy for all program related communications including press releases, website, printed materials, and social media content.
● Basic understanding of Wordpress platform and SEO.
● Coordinate for printing and distribution of all local print materials including postcards, pamphlets, posters, rack cards, banners, and fliers.
● Track program statistics; provide accurate and thorough reports upon request.
● Ability to adapt and pick up new techniques.
● Keen eye for graphic design, attention to detail, and creativity.
● Proficiency with various social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Instagram.
● Interest and knowledge of current events and marketing trends within specific geographic area(s).
● Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.): 1 year (Required)
● Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations: 1 year (Required)
HIGHLY PREFERRED
● Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin).
● Video editing: 1 year
PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Position is primarily performed at a desk with walking, standing, stooping periodically throughout the workday. 25lb lifting requirements.
COMPENSATION:
$75,000/annual
RELOCATION:
We are NOT able to provide relocation for this position.
