About the role
We are looking for an experienced Event Chef Events to join the busy catering team at the National Space Centre, to help deliver ‘out of this world’ events to our customers. This is a varied and interesting role, preparing and serving food for a variety of different events including weddings, Christmas parties, corporate dinners and canape events.
You will have the experience and ability to prepare, cook and serve a variety of dishes. Experience of working in a corporate environment is desirable, as is experience of producing food for plated events, hot fork menus and A la carte experience. Good communication and team working skills are essential.
Working hours are 35 hours per week, with regular weekends off and no split shifts. Uniform provided.
Salary £32,000 per annum

Job Description - Event Chef
Reports to: Head Chef
Main Purpose:
Preparing and serving all food for upcoming events at the National Space Centre
Working along-side the Head Chef and kitchen team
Main Tasks:
Preparing and serving food for a variety of different events such as Weddings/ Christmas Parties/Corporate dinners/ Canape events.
Taking an active role in Development and Design of the event food offer alongside the Head Chef.
Preparing and serving food for photoshoots as and when required.
Preparing and serving food for regular tasting sessions.
Designing planning and executing one off bespoke events at the space centre.
Assist the kitchen team in all areas when required and lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef.
Maintaining and ensuring all relevant record keeping is up to date and paperwork completed.
Responsibility for ordering stock as and when required and consequently responsible for the control of stock to adequate levels by using stock rotation and other methods as necessary.
Responsibility for ensuring that all Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and that the health and safety of the visitors and employees are of paramount importance.
Undertake training and development as part of a Personal Development Programme.
To undertake any other tasks consummarate with the post, as directed by Line Manager.
Maintaining and ensuring all relevant record keeping is up to date and paperwork completed.

Experience and Knowledge
- Experience and ability to prepare, cook and serve a variety of dishes to the required standard.
- Experience of working in a corporate environment is desirable
- Experience of producing food for plated events, and hot fork menus is desirable
- A la carte experience is desirable.

- The role requires varied working hours – to including regular weekends and Bank Holidays and occasional evenings. Flexibility is required.
