You will ensure that all exhibits including CCTV, Body Worn Video and other digital data relevant to the Coronial investigation is obtained and available for HM Coroner to assess admissibility. You will be responsible for compiling and submitting the file of evidence to HM Coroner for Inquest proceedings.
As part of the investigation process, you will be required to use digital cameras to record and process evidence in accordance with GMP Policy. You will be required to attend Coroners Court and as a representative of GMP you will give oral evidence under oath at Inquest proceedings.
You will be required to attend the public mortuary, to deal with queries raised by pathologists and mortuary technicians regarding for example concerns around the identification of the deceased or the discovery of injuries not previously recorded.

You will also have to manage a work stream generated by HM Coroners in relation to unnatural deaths that occur in hospital / health care settings.
The role is very dynamic and candidates will need to possess excellent organisational skills with an ability to identify and prioritise a challenging workload. Further responsibilities include administering the GMP system for reporting deaths, dealing with correspondence and queries, preparing and submitting reports and statistics.
Candidates must provide evidence that they are confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills and with experience of dealing with members of the public and other stakeholders in a customer service or similar role. Interviewing skills and the ability to use a variety of styles and approaches to suit people from different backgrounds would be an advantage. Your empathy, manner and approach to the role is important as this will leave a lasting impact on the families and friends of the deceased.
This role requires you to be a team player working in the dynamics of a small team but there will be occasions when you will be expected to work alone with minimum supervision.
You’ll need to have the flexibility to work across different GMP locations, so it’s essential that you have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
