SF Recruitment have an exciting opportunity recruiting for an Day Shift Manager for their client based in Nottingham. As the Day shift Manager you will be responsible for full management and leadership for assigned production areas. This is a full-time permanent role working Monday-Thursday 7am - 4pm finishing at 2pm on Fridays. Must have flexibility for overtime when required.
You will be required to develop action plans and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve the benefits of identified opportunities.
Main Responsibilities:
To manage all aspects of production.
Ensure self and staff always comply with company procedures and policies.
Take a pro-active and participative role in the running of the department by making recommendations for improving efficiency/fault finding/problem solving/reducing downtime.
Co-operate with the Company in ensuring all Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed. Instruct staff in safe methods of work and ensure compliance with general housekeeping and safe systems of work.
Ensure production is running at full potential and is free flowing, dealing appropriately with interruptions in work tasks. Make efficient decisions regarding material and machinery issues.
Set priorities, plan, co-ordinate and motivate team to achieve targets set out in the Production Management Review document.
Ensure accurate completion of production sheets and timely submission for production review.
Follow quality standards set and monitor rejects as required.
Efficient management of staff as required to meet production and workload targets.
Provide day to day supervision of staff. Observe and evaluate staff performance daily. As required, arrange meetings with individuals or team to discuss any general production or individual grievances.
Communicate with shop floor workers and management team to ensure problems are resolved.
Follow quality standards and procedures when loading and unloading, including instructing drivers in the safe key policy.
Use appropriate paperwork to check loads are correct.
Ensure appropriate action is taken when damages/rejects/shortages are identified.
Ensure training needs of new and existing staff are identified and adequately met.
Provide on the job training to ensure there are no skills shortages, safe working conditions, flexibility of staff and to enable enough cover on the shop floor. Personally, provide cover on the shop floor where necessary.
Monitor staffing levels to ensure the company is employing the correct number of staff, making recommendations as necessary.
Identify recruitment needs and follow approved procedure to bring in new staff.
Attend meetings and complete documentation as required.
The client is looking for someone with strong leadership skills along with the ability to confidently demonstrate a hands on management style. Ideal candidates will need excellent communication skills with basic financial acumen. You will need technical acumen to solve technical and production issues and utilize basic manufacturing tools such as 5S, Lean etc.
