We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Concept Artist to join our talented team on s&box. Ideal candidates should have a strong portfolio demonstrating their ability to push our visual development to new levels. Candidates should have strong self-motivation, the ability to work well in and communicate with a team based both in the office and remotely. Familiarity with s&box, Source-Engine titles, and our other games is a plus.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience across the entire discipline, from environment and character design through to paintovers and style guides. At times you may also be required to work between multiple projects helping in our next-generation game creation, so versatility and the ability to adapt to new systems and workflows is essential.
Create and develop concept art and style guides that will help establish the visual standards of the game.
Create quick sketches and illustrations to help quickly visualise and iterate.
Create detailed and instructive concepts for a variety of assets including environments, props, characters and more.
Work with other artists by creating paintovers and lighting studies to help them push their own visuals and achieve the goals of the team.
Eligible to work and located within the UK.
An exceptional portfolio that demonstrates an expert artistic ability.
Excellent knowledge of lighting, colour and composition, structure, silhouettes, staging and textures and materials.
The ability to work within an established art-style, as well as pioneer new visuals.
Demonstrable knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Knowledge and understanding of weapons and viewmodel design.
Ability to create highly-polished illustrative art for covers and marketing materials.
Ability to articulate gameplay design through concept art.
Self-motivated and proactive.
Local to UK Birmingham or the surrounding area or have strong transport links to Birmingham to work hybrid at our HQ.
AAA game studio experience in concept art.
Basic knowledge of a 3D application (Maya, Blender etc).
Experience with working in a game engine.
