Job Description
Swim Torquay is a registered Charity providing a range of activities linked to Plainmoor Community Pool. Working for the Charity and reporting to the General Manager (GM), you will support the GM in the safe running of the facility and all activities offered.
Key responsibilities
- Support the GM in the management of maintenance and safe operations of plant and buildings including all COSHH requirements
- Support the GM in the management and co-ordination of all operations within the swimming pool, ensuring that all safety, customer and quality standards are met. You will support the day to day hands on routine management of the swimming pool. You must have a good understanding of, and interpret and react to, swimming pool water conditions including Health and Safety requirements for these facilities.
- Support the day to day management of the Team of Lifeguards and Swimming Teachers
- Support the management of online booking systems, website and social media accounts
- Support the review as required of all pool safety operating procedures
- Support the growth and development of the facility and programmes offered
Skills and experience
- Minimum 1 years industry specific related experience
- Minimum 1 years’ experience managing a Team
- The ability to multitask and constantly reprioritise
- Understanding of current leisure industry legislation
- Comprehensive understanding of current Health and Safety legislation and requirements
- Excellent communication skills across a broad range of recipients including members of the public, local authority Councillors, Board Members, local schools and swimming clubs
- Proactive, positive friendly and helpful manner and assist others when required
Qualifications Required
- Relevant HND or NVQ - desirable
- R.L.S.S. National Pool Lifeguard Qualification - desirable
- Current First Aid at Work Certificate - desirable
- Pool Plant Operators Certificate - desirable
- Swim England/STA Lvl 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification – desirable

General
You will be on a six-month probationary period during which time you will be expected to establish your suitability for this post.
Your hours of work will be 37.5 per week, including weekends, evenings and public holidays as required. If overtime working is required (over and above 37.5 hours per week) then you will be granted either T.O.I.L. (time-off-in-lieu) or overtime at standard rate of pay; the precise arrangement, to reflect operational demands, to be advised to you by the Chairman of the Board.
