Job Description
We are currently looking for someone to fill the GRP Operative Role within the Trimming department who is able to learn skills in different departments
Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30 and Friday 07:30 – 15:00
£10.46 per hour
39-hour contract with overtime opportunities at 1.5 times the overtime rate
(can earn £19,500 up to £24,500 per annum)
20 days holiday, plus bank hols per annum

We can train you to be a specialist in the GRP sector which is a unique product in a niche market. This post is for individuals who have no experience who are willing to learn new skills but also for any GRP experienced individuals who are looking for a new GRP role
Main Role and Responsibilities:
Trimming
- Working in the trimming room; cutting, measuring, trimming, sanding to a high standard
- You need to be physically fit, as there will be lifting and carrying involved.
Other aspects:
Laminating
- Preparing moulds for manufacture, including maintenance
- Applying release agents to the mould surface prior to manufacture
- Applying glass matting and resin to moulds, hand layup
- Consolidation of fiberglass & resin with rollers ensuring a quality finish
- Releasing of moulded products from mould once cured.
Base Reinforcements
· Cutting wood on a panel saw and cross-cut saw, then glue the wood to the base to add rigidity to the product
Finishing
· Polishing, buffing, sanding, filling air voids with body filler, painting, and spraying
Dispatch
· Quality control, wrapping, making frames to be used on pallets - joinery skills
General Responsibilities
- Working within Health and Safety guidelines.
- Cleaning and maintaining work areas, machinery and site in general.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience of GRP manufacture is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must have a good temperament with a can-do attitude
- Work using own initiative and within a team
- Understands clean as you go systems with a neat and tidy approach to work
- Strong communication skills – be able to communicate at all levels
- Understand quality
- Must have a flexible approach to work and willing to work overtime at short notice if necessary
