Job Description
Based in our Knutsford office, the Editor will report directly to the Group Editor and will be responsible for taking ownership of delivering all assets relating to a Texere publication brand.
- Responsible for a small team consisting of a Deputy Editor and, or Associate Editor, you will be responsible for:
- Planning, commissioning, writing, and editing content for publication in a multitude of formats (print, social media, digital, video, audio) to a high-quality standard and deadline, and managing a team to do the same.
- Content strategy for brand content assets, using market trends, digital and social engagement results, and reader and client feedback, to drive content decisions and support audience growth.
- Working with clients to consult, guide and develop content for commercial campaigns that will secure maximum reader engagement.
- Creating, building, and nurturing strategically beneficial professional networks, leveraging value of networks to support brand growth and guide content direction.
- Working closely with the Publisher to drive the growth of the publication brand, recommending, and leveraging novel opportunities to support this goal.
- Adapting writing styles to meet the needs of different audiences and internal house style.
- Confidently conducting interviews and meetings with industry experts that are engaging and professional.
- Managing the delivery of web- and social media-optimized content that will drive reader engagement and growth.
- Liaising with internal departments to share ideas and support common goals.
- Fully versed in current trends in relation to the brand.
- Proofreading content and paying attention to detail.
- Representing and promoting the publication online and at in-person events and meetings.
- Promoting collaboration and challenging attitudes or processes that prevent progress.
- Leading by example; sharing resources, knowledge, ideas, and skills across the organisation, building helpful, productive relationships internally and externally.
- Coaching and mentoring those less experienced to build on strengths and improve on areas for development, providing constructive feedback, developing talent from a diverse range of skills and backgrounds.
- Line management of junior team member(s), ensuring full performance engagement and development plans are in place, and line reports are fully supported in achieving professional goals.
- Developing and using tools that will support the efficient, on-time delivery and organization of all content assets.
- Supporting the achievement of a motivational and productive working environment.
Education, Skills and Experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably within a scientific discipline.
- Exceptional level of scientific publications writing and editing experience.
- Able to define and execute content strategy for a professional audience.
- A high level of editorial awareness and judgement.
- Experience of working with and managing others.
- Ability to foster creativity and experimentation, takes and promotes considered risks, shows openness to new ways of doing things.
- Demonstrates an approach to work that is characterised by commitment, motivation, and success.
- Excellence in communicating to differing audiences and across all forms of media.
- Ability to think strategically in a way which inspires others towards a similar goal.

- Knowledge of Google suite, Microsoft, Basecamp, Sprout, TYPO

Salary: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
