Job description:
I am a friendly 18-year-old boy with Down Syndrome, who is seeking a PA to take me out to do fun activities like going to the park and the fun fair. Due to health problems associated with Down Syndrome, I require someone who can safely use an oxygen cylinder, administer my medication (I take up to five tablets a day) and add thickener to my drinks. I am also a wheelchair user.
I am a happy and outgoing teenager, with a great sense of humour, who loves to get out of the house to do various activities. I attend a boxing class and enjoy watching wrestling. I love fairground rides and really enjoy going to the theme parks in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft (although due to my heart condition I need to be careful which rides I go on). I love animals, I have a little dog of my own at home and would love one day to be a farmer when I leave College. I really enjoy going to Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary and Swallow Aquatics to look at the fish.
I have a tendency to wonder off and do not have a very good awareness of road safety, so it is important that my PA be vigilant around my safety when out and about. Supervision is required at all times, including when using the bathroom. I am mostly non-verbal and someone with a knowledge of Sign-a-long would be highly advantageous. Due to my separation anxiety, I am looking for a phased start where to begin with we will be joined by my God Mother until which time I feel comfortable.
As well as 5 hours every Sunday, I am also looking for someone who is able to work 5 hours a day (Mon-Fri) during the school holidays.
