Band 4 Waiting List Coordinator
The Trauma & Orthopaedic department have an exciting opportunity for a Waiting List Coordinator.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and booking Consultant theatre lists, booking consent clinics as well as organising pre-op assessment. You should have exceptional organisational skills, eye for detail and be able to prioritise changing workloads.
- To maintain surgeons’ theatre diaries, selecting appropriate case mix in chronological order, acknowledging clinical priority
- To co-ordinate admission and associated pre-operative assessment clinics, ensuring all key staff are aware of organisational arrangements
- To act as a contact point, liaising with patients, relatives, medical representatives, GP’s/other hospitals, nursing staff, surgical team and support services
- To record performance of additional capacity to meet demand/shortfall in elective capacity
- To liaise with consultants and other staff regarding annual leave and other absences, to ensure operating lists are appropriately booked and closed if necessary.
- To manage the waiting list of a group of Consultants using Careflow, in accordance with the BNSSG Access Policy
- To be aware of maximum waiting time targets for patients and monitor the Patient Target List (PTL) on a daily basis to ensure Government Access Targets are not breached
The Avon Orthopaedic Centre (AOC) located in the Brunel Building is the largest specialist elective orthopaedic centre in the Southwest, 4th largest nationally, the Major Trauma provider for the Severn region, and regional tertiary referral centre for complex spinal surgery. The Trauma team work closely with the regional plastic surgery and regional vascular teams in the management of major trauma, and in addition have excellent outcomes with ambulatory and elderly trauma including hip fractures.
The elective Orthopaedic service is provided by a team of 39 North Bristol Trust and University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust Consultants, as part of a Bristol wide centralised orthopaedic service delivered at the AOC.
- To manage the end to end elective patient pathway
- Plays a central role with the services and is required to liaise with hospital medical staff, other departments, GP’s, patients and the general public
- To manage the end to end elective patient pathway for a group of Clinicians, coordinating admissions and associated pre-operative clinics, theatre lists and imaging as required.
- To liaise with patients and book their required appointments for their procedures.
The successful candidate must have experience of audio typing and have a sound knowledge of IT packages in MS Office & Windows. The role requires someone who has a great attention to detail and great organisational skills for working in a fast paced, busy department.
