Knowsley Prevention Service Youth Engagement Worker
Do you want to be part of something new and exciting? Then read on…
Knowsley is a vibrant and dynamic place to live, work and play. Located between the two thriving cities of Liverpool and Manchester, Knowsley is well located, fantastically connected and still beautifully green. Knowsley is the current Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture; 2022 is Knowsley’s year and it promises to be a special one!
The team: This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Knowsley’s newly established Prevention Service. The team sits under the direction of the Youth Offending Service but is very much a partnership approach to tackling anti-social behaviour, crime and exploitation. We would like to hear from you if you are creative, resourceful, supportive, and have a genuine desire to positively shape the futures of children. We are specifically looking for someone who is committed, dedicated, with experience of working directly with children.
The mission of the team is to provide a child first, trauma informed and relationship-based service to reduce anti-social behaviour, children entering the criminal justice system, and children becoming exploited. The service will support vulnerable children, some who have been impacted by adverse childhood experiences, those who are most excluded, so above all, you will need to have the drive, passion, and commitment to making a difference for these children.
The role: As a Youth Engagement Worker, you will directly support children and families referred to the service through gaining an understanding of their needs, ensuring a strengths-based approach to planning, and delivering bespoke interventions. A key aspect to the role is your ability to engage children and families who may be challenging. You will need to be creative in the way that you work with complex families, engaging them to build on the positives whilst having a strong understanding of the impact of exploitation, trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
This role will require you to be creative and innovative in developing and delivering interventions and community projects to support positive outcomes for children, families and communities in Knowsley.
In return you will get great benefits; we are committed to flexible working to improve productivity and wellbeing. You will receive regular supervision, support, and benefit from opportunities for continuous professional development. We are an equal opportunities employer which values diversity and positively encourages a diverse range of applicants.
To apply and be considered for this position your application will clearly evidence the job description and employee specification attached. Your application will provide evidence on your ability to meet the main responsibilities of the role
