What does this Support Worker job involve?
- On a day-to-day basis support workers must demonstrate empathy and a caring attitude and promote the harmony in the home.
- It is important that health and safety is followed to promote infection control and keep everyone safe at work.
- The role involves supporting the service users in their chosen environment to; do their laundry, iron clothes, vacuum the carpets, mop floors, dust and wipe down surfaces as you go and support them to cook and prepare meals.
- The service users need support with their personal care and it is paramount that you treat every individual with dignity and respect.
- As a Support Worker you will have the opportunity to accompany service users to use public transport to access their activities, such as bowling, going shopping, playing tennis, or going to the gym.
- You must read and understand individual care plans and follow these in order for you to develop a greater understanding of those you are supporting.
We have a range of shift patterns starting at 2pm until 10pm. There is a sleeping-in duty from 10pm (Sleeping in duty is paid £60pn) until 7am, when you will begin work again in the house until 10am or 2pm depending on the service users needs. You have the opportunity to progress to senior and management levels depending on your willingness to learn and loyalty shown to the company.
