As a Sales Manager you will report to the Head of Sales and work to achieve efficient execution of the MUK sales strategy. This particular role will primarily focus on business opportunities within the Air and Maritime domains.
Your priority in role will be to qualify and mature new opportunities; these can be presented through legacy/repeat business or new ‘from scratch’ sourced from established procurement and purchasing portals. You should also be prepared to utilise allocated business development resources to monitor and posture to win business in future key programs.
Additionally, you will be responsible for the monitoring and feedback to HoS of overall order intake and gross margins within your respective focus areas (Land/Air/Sea/Cyber/Space) through efficient use of customer relationship management (CRM) applications.
Finally, you will support the HoS and sales team colleagues in achieving objectives and key requirements (OKRs) as set by MD MUK, and MilDef Group. You will be empowered to work within the boundaries of the sales strategy and expected to perform your tasks autonomously and as required to achieve successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities/your duties will include but are not limited to
- Assist HoS in efficient execution of company sales strategy within the UK & Ireland.
- Daily contribution to sales team operations; provide regular and timely order and forecast information to HoS.
- Contribution to sales strategy and capture of key market drivers to assist in decision making process for new product development.
- Account management of major existing customers such as Industry Primes and MoD experimentation cells whilst attaining growth of customer accounts through your established network.
- Travel to visit customers on-site to deliver informative briefs on products & services.
- Management of frameworks, bids & tender submissions via defence sourcing portals.
- Engagement at all key defence & security exhibitions as well as relevant industry days.
- Provide accurate revenue forecast information, via the in-service Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
Key Competencies needed to succeed in the role
- You will have significant experience of defence sales including knowledge of procurement processes as well as current and future UK military programmes, particularly within Air and Maritime domains.
- Familiar with use of CRM and applications and quoting mechanisms.
- You will be technically competent, preferably in the area of defence electronics, communications and networking.
- A military background or experience of working within a military environment, whilst not essential, is highly desirable.
- Experience of bid management via defence sourcing portals and framework applications is desirable.
