Job Description
The Associate Director of Catering will assist the Director of Sales & Catering in directing, coordinating, training, and supervising the Catering Sales Managers. Manage all aspects of the Catering Sales operation, including the selling of all food and beverage functions, conferences, and banquets. Devising signature events, amenities and set-ups that enhance the appeal to generate incremental revenue for the Hotel. He/she is also responsible for coordinating, supervising, and directing assigned group business after it is turned over by the sales department, throughout the closure of the event and subsequent financial aspects of the program, while maintaining profitable operations and high-quality products and service levels. He/she is expected to market ideas to promote business. The Senior Catering Sales Manager is also responsible for acting as a liaison between client and operating departments to ensure a successful meeting and to generate repeat business.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers to facilitate future business.
· Daily activities including maintenance and servicing of business, solicitation calls, entertainment, and site inspections.
· Able to provide quick and timely responses with all leads and incoming inquiries by generating proposals, writing contracts, customer correspondence and online booking channels.
· Document all correspondence with clients into the sales system, Delphi.fdc. Closely following up on all day-to-day business needs with clients and hotel personnel.
· Create and maintain a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.
· Stay up on marketing trends and develop strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
· Perform any other duties as requested by management.
· Primary sales efforts are in maximizing Banquet Food & Beverage and Meeting Room Rental revenues
· Menu planning, agenda setting, and providing a personalized planning experience
· Contract drafting and review
· Facilitating communication before, during and post event with pertinent hotel staff to ensure a high level of service.
· Candidates should be extremely detail-oriented, possess exemplary customer service skills, be an effective communicator and be able to handle a fast-paced environment.
· Be visible on the floor and assist staff as needed during functions.
· Candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends based on business demands
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 2 years’ hotel catering sales, event coordinator, food and beverage, hospitality, or equivalent experience
· Community college or 4-year degree preferred
· Strong verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
· Flexible and self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced environment
· Proficient in general computer knowledge including MS Outlook, Word, Excel
· Knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations
· Wedding experience, social media knowledge and Delphi.fdc is a plus
