As Solar PV Engineer you will contribute to EDF’s mission to become a leader in the UK and Irelands drive for Net Zero by providing technical support, guidance and oversight to an extensive pipeline of Solar and Hybrid projects.
Reporting to the Battery and Solar Lead within the Central Technical Organisation (Engineering) you will join a small, dynamic and expanding team working closely with the wider business in particular the Solar Development teams, continuing through Construction and the transition into Asset operations and beyond.
You will provide technical support, guidance and oversight to an extensive pipeline of Solar and Hybrid projects. EDF Renewables has a multi-GW portfolio of Solar and Solar hybrid (storage, wind and hydrogen).

The role is flexible with regards location and will generally be home based. However, the successful candidate is expected to attend an office (London, Durham, Edinburgh) at least once a fortnight. Travel to other offices and site visits may also be required on a project-by-project basis.
What you’ll be doing…
- Ensure H&S is maintained to the highest standards with a zero harm approach through the project lifecycle
- Coordinate Engineering activities for solar PV project support across the project development lifecycle
- Continue to develop the design standards and processes to improve efficiency
- Provide governance and oversight and risk management
- Perform solar design activities including energy yield assessments and the management of suppliers undertaking design activities such as the preparation of Energy Yield Accuracy (EYA) and design drawings
- Support the Development of projects from early stages thought to FID including due diligence of potential acquisitions
- Preparation and management of technical specifications and requirements, supporting tendering, negotiation and selection of EPC or System & Balance of Plant, Operation & Maintenance and other supply contracts
Who you are...
Working as part of and supporting cross disciplinary teams to coordinate Engineering activities for projects, you will be someone with an in-depth knowledge and field expertise regarding Solar PV technologies including emerging technologies as well as knowledge of various Solar PV applications including utility scale, ground mounted, building mounted, fixed tilt, and trackers.
With a degree in Engineering you’ll have experience covering the range of a solar PV plant lifecycle and knowledge of industry-standard software such as PVsyst, PVSol. (knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous but not essential).
