Job Description
Due to continued growth we are recruiting for a Area Supervisor/ Care Coordinator to join our Wigan office care team. We are looking for caring, compassionate people that have a passion for providing care and support in the community.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring all visits are satisfactorily covered for the Wigan care service in Ashton in makerfield and Golborne/Lowton.
You will be responsible for managing, supervising and organising mentoring as well as tasks relating to the supervising and development of new recruits in the field. Completing Staff supervisions and spot checks
You will be allocated an area of Clients which you will be responsible for ensuring that all their care and support needs are being met; that they have a consistent care team and to check in with the Clients regularly (to be formally recorded using ACP). You will additionally be asked to pick up and deliver medication to clients
You will also liaise with social workers and governing bodies
Hours of work:
There is a two weekly rolling rota ensuring Office is open 7am - 5pm, 7 days a week.
You will be required to work shifts on a rota basis within these hours.
Additionally you will be required to work alternate weekends respite days will be given during the week
Role will include on call duties which is paid at a set rate additional from the hourly rate
Main Responsibilities
- Ensuring carers aren’t issued any work until all statutory checks have been completed (DBS, POVA, references – as appropriate).
- Allocating new recruits to a Mentor to complete their shadowing and Mentoring Programme, ensuring that you are satisfied each new carer is competent and confident before they are sent out lone working.
- To formally identify if staff need any additional training or support.
- To complete regular supervisions and spot checks on the care team, to offer coaching and guidance where required.
- To complete annual appraisals for the care team.
- To communicate and moderate the staff Whatsapp groups.
- Ensuring that the care team holiday requests are responded to appropriately, including a maximum number off at any one time to meet the needs of the service.
- To ensure that all sickness and absence is recorded appropriately in a timely manner.
- Offering support to the Scheduler in collating and amending the rotas as required, ensuring rotas are consistent and can be completed in a safe manner.
- Ensuring all care visits are safely covered in a timely manner, including real-time monitoring of the People Planner system to ensure visits are being attended and logged and that no visits are missed.
- Ensuring the safeguarding of clients by conforming to Cherish policy and procedures, with regard for CQC and local authority frameworks. Ensure that all information regarding clients, staff and Cherish is not divulged to third parties without authorisation and approval, and uphold the principles within the Confidentiality and GDPR policies.
- To ensure Personal Protection Equipment is distributed to the care team on a regular basis, at levels appropriate with the volume of care delivered.
- General office duties to allow the good organisation and smooth running of the service.
Other duties
You may have to undertake other duties at the same level of responsibility at any time, as well as or instead of those listed above. This may include becoming part of the ‘on call’ rota system in the event of an emergency or extenuating circumstance preventing the office team from carrying out the normal office opening hours.
