Parish Administrator and Bookkeeper
22.5 hours per week £20,000.00 per year (£33,000 pro rata for 0.6)
This lively and historic City of London Church of England Church at the heart of the iconic
Barbican seeks someone to serve at the heart of our community as Parish Administrator and
Bookkeeper. We are seeking a committed and talented person to embrace our lovely parish/ local community and help us function effectively in the amazing diversity of activities here.
The Role
This employee has primary oversight, under the direction and line-management of the
Rector, of the running of the parish administratively. The Parish Administrator and
Bookkeeper will work with the Rector, Events Coordinator & Buildings Supervisor (part time), and volunteer Parish Officers (especially Churchwardens and Treasurer) to ensure the smooth and successful running of administration, communication, routine and project-based financial and day to day operations. Flexitime options are available - a regular pattern of days will be developed to dovetail with another member of team to staff our open church building.
- A warm, welcoming and safe face of the Church day to day.
- All Administration concerning regular and special services
- Parish Financial Procedures - Gift Aid, tax, budgetary finance controls
- Bookkeeping
- Running parish rotas and communications
- Wider community communications
- Management and paying of bills/rent
- Liaising with the Diocesan process for parish management.
- Correspondence
- etc.
We seek someone with good experience of financial procedures (SAGE, computer skills, accounting/bookkeeping), who is self-motivating and can be trusted to deliver independently on work, and who will embrace our parish family and be happy here.
