We are looking for a Technical Operations Manager for our busy BCA Corby site (Baird Road).
This is our newest opportunity to join a successful and high-volume Workshop Team and within this role, you would be overseeing the Technical Workshop with the support from shift Supervisors and Team Leaders, who would be reporting directly to you.
Our workshop currently employs Master Technicians (up to Leve 4), Workshop Technicians, Mechanical Inspectors, MOT Testers & we are constantly growing and so will your team.
An ideal candidate for this role will have a previous experience of working within a workshop environment and have minimum three years of managerial experience. You will need to understand the day-to-day operations of the workshop and will be able to lead, manage and motivate your team to achieve targets.
This location of a BCA site is easily accessible from Kettering, Wellingborough, Northampton, Thrapston, Rushden, Leicester, Peterborough and many more.

Salary: £45,000.00 per annum

Main purpose of the job:
This is a senior management position within BCA. Reporting to the General Manager, Technical Operations Manager will be directly responsible for all Mechanical / Technical Safety checks, Services, Repairs and MOT of all vehicles for BCA’s Fleet Solutions programme.
Main responsibilities:
Implement processes and working practices in conjunction with manufacturer guidelines and protocols
Be the ‘expert’ in manufacturer systems & controls to ensure conformance across the process and consistency across BCA sites
Work in a consultative manner to response to technical questions and queries across the business and from OEM’s
Adopt and taken responsibility for all technical apprenticeships, working with the wider BCA
Work with OEMs on technical implementation and workshop structure
Provide efficiency measures to demonstrate workshop productivity against hours sold
Provide development plans and management OEM training plans for each technical head
Work with OEM’ to ensure all warranty systems are implemented and managed in accordance with manufacturers guidelines
Work with the manufacturer / Dealer Groups to obtain all licence and systems controls
Work with the manufactures to obtain OEM specific equipment (where required), creating an asset register for audit purposes
Document and control all working practices to ensure OEM conformance - specifically for audit purposes
Provide GM guidance and support with resource planning and training
Support Customer Services in resolving post-delivery claims
Be the key contact & liaison for service diversification and rate review
To attend and participate in manufacturers training courses as deemed necessary
To maintain a professional attitude, building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers.
Skills and experience required:
Previous managerial experience (minimum 2 years)
Previous workshop experience (minimum 3-5 years)
Qualified to City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (essential)
Dealership background (desirable)
Qualified as a MOT Tester (desirable)
Own a Full UK Driving Licence
Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office- Outlook and Excel
Strong communication skills
