The Oxford Internet Institute – founded in 2001 - is a multidisciplinary research and teaching department of the University of Oxford, dedicated to the social science of the Internet.
We are recruiting a Research Assistant to join the Fairwork Team. This is a full time post that will be reporting to Dr Funda Ustek Spilda and will be responsible for the provision of research support for the Fairwork Foundation.
Fairwork is an action research project which assesses digital labour platforms against principles of fair work and uses this research to push for positive change in the gig economy.

Tasks include:
- Managing own research and administrative activities
- Carrying out primary and secondary research with gig workers and platforms
- Organising meetings by liaising with external partners and stakeholders
- Disseminating of results by gathering, analysing and presenting qualitative data
- Contributing to wider project planning, including ideas for new research projects
The post is fixed term until 31 August 2023, is available immediately and based at the Oxford Internet Institute, 1 St Giles – OX1 3JS.
The ideal candidate will hold a first degree and relevant experience. They will possess knowledge about current developments in the platform economy and have previous experience of contributing to publications and/or presentations.
