Job Description
Due to an increase in business Arnold Laver and Company Limited, part of the National Timber Group are seeking to strengthen their team by appointing a Works/Office Apprentice at their Hymor Timber Branch in Stoke-on-Trent at Scotia Business Park, Scotia Rd, Tunstall, ST6 4HG .
The successful candidate will be a motivated individual with good communication skills who understands their role in providing excellent customer service from all aspects of the business.
Main Duties:
- Spend time working in our busy sawmill learning the properties of timber, what the product is used for and handling the timber on a daily basis
- After training, use woodworking machinery, fork lift truck and other product moving equipment for the production of customer’s orders (Age restrictions apply)
- Spend time working in our timber warehouse/yard learning how to ‘pick’ timber orders and package them together for customer delivery or collection
- Spend time working with our team of drivers assisting with deliveries
- Spend time working in our sales/admin office learning all aspects of the department from understanding technical drawings to serving customers on our trade counter
- At all times work in a safe and responsible manner so as not to endanger your colleagues, customers, stock, plant, machinery or buildings.
Hours, Salary and Benefits:
- This is a full-time role working a minimum of 40 hours per week Monday-Friday
- Starting salary is above Apprentice National Minimum Wage
- 30 days holiday per year including the eight public (Bank) holidays
