The Business Systems Analyst role at RDT
The Business Systems Analyst role at RDT is responsible for supporting the design and development of both custom and core product features. You will work with domain experts to solicit and identify business requirements, understand existing system functionality, address usability concerns and document system requirements for change.
As a Business Systems Analyst, you will be the clarifier of ambiguity between the Customer and the
Delivery Team. You will be responsible for writing user stories and acceptance criteria, in collaboration with the team and SME’s, and act as the domain expert who understands the business requirements, ensuring all deliverables are aligned to RDT company objectives whilst also fulfilling the customer needs.
What you’ll be doing
- Understanding and negotiating the needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders (internal and external) to obtain a clear understanding of “what” change is being proposed and “why” to ensure there is a business justification
- Interpret business and technical requirements (both functional and non-functional), translating and documenting without ambiguity in clear and concise artifacts for the Delivery Teams
- Collaborate and interact with multi-disciplinary teams for initial feasibility study, solution design and implementation
- Evaluate business processes and systems, documenting process and data models, and identifying changes required to address process and system inefficiencies
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, presentations and demonstrate active listening
- Assist with the estimation of new projects and or change requests
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders
- Provide regular feedback on testing deliverables against user story acceptance criteria
- Peer review the output of other company functions as part of RDT’s quality assurance processes e.g., training material, system documentation etc.
What we expect from you
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certified in a relevant discipline or qualified by experience
- Proven experience in Business Analyst / Systems Analyst role within the insurance industry
- Experience of working with 3rd parties and integrations
- Agile Methodology experience favourably regarded
Essential Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid domain knowledge of insurance, particularly UK personal lines & claims administration
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Good working knowledge of business and data analysis tools and techniques such as: requirements elicitation, structured analysis and design, process mapping, gap analysis, data mapping, UAT support etc.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to approach tasks & problems in a logical manner
- Understanding of non-functional requirements
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle
- High levels of resilience, able to take input and direction to run with a task and able to be adaptable and flexible in approach
- Confident and proactive approach with a strong desire and thirst for learning
- Team player with the ability to work well with others
- Good working knowledge of APIs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Effective negotiator with good reasoning skills
Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of standard modelling notations such as BPMN and UML
- Previous experience working with web UIs
- Experience of developing and maintaining rating products
- Experience of RDT’s Landscape product
- Exposure to/knowledge of: o Microsoft DevOps o Visio o XML o Json o SQL
