The role
Fugro are seeking a Planning & Training Coordinator to join the Marine Site Characterisation Geophysics department based at our waterfront office at Portchester, Hampshire.
The department specialises in offshore geophysical seabed and sub-seabed surveying for the renewables, unexploded ordnance (UXO), nearshore and utilities sectors across north-west Europe.
As Planning & Training Coordinator, you will organise the deployment of our technical staff to work on offshore survey vessels by ensuring there are appropriate survey crews available and liaising with contractor agencies where necessary to fill staffing gaps. You will also coordinate the training of our staff to ensure they have the skills and competencies required.

Who you’ll be working with:
You will be working closely with the Operations Manager to discuss upcoming requirements and review options, as well as department heads to ascertain specific personnel and training needs and department administrators to arrange travel.
Building a rapport with the other planners across Fugro is essential in ensuring staff are utilised and resources are shared, as is building relationships with contract staff providers and training providers when required.
Here’s what a typical week would be like:
Update with Operations Manager to go through upcoming projects & requirements.
Keep staff appraised of upcoming rotations and longer-term plans.
Update department planning documents – MS Project Planner, Department Calendar.
Research and book training courses, updating training and competence records.
Check in with the other Fugro planners to keep updated on regional personnel requirements.
Identify any Visa, vaccination or other requirements and arrange.
Check in with Department Administrator on progress of travel and logistics bookings.
Attend weekly departmental meetings to keep updated on future projects.
Manage financial administration relating to personnel and training, e.g. create and receipt POs, Invoices.
Who we’re looking for:
Essential
5+ GCSEs and 2+ A-levels or equivalent level qualification.
Good communication skills with a confident telephone manner.
Excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
An outgoing, confident personality with a good ability in developing relationships.
Ability to manage and prioritise a large workload and deal with frequent change.
Proficient in use of MS Office applications.
Fluent in English.
Desirable
Some knowledge of the offshore survey industry.
Experience in a recruitment or personnel agency environment.
Higher qualification in a technical / scientific / marine based discipline.
