Job Description

Grassroots Scout

Department: Academy Recruitment

Reports to: Head of Academy Recruitment and Academy Recruitment Phase Leads

Ipswich Town Football Club are looking for a number of Grassroots Scouts in the Cambridge and Ipswich areas.

Location: You will primarily attend other match venues such as other grassroots or professional Clubs, multipurpose sports venues or public recreation grounds. However, may also be required to travel to Playford Road Training Centre, Portman Road, and other Ipswich Town Football Club (“the Club”) sites.

Who are we?

Ipswich Town Football Club is the only professional football club in Suffolk and is currently based in League One. The Club’s proud history includes becoming champions of England under Sir Alf Ramsey, as well as FA Cup and UEFA Cup winners under Sir Bobby Robson. Off the pitch, the Club prides itself on being an integral part of the local community both in the town of Ipswich and beyond.

Following acquisition in April 2021 by Gamechanger 20 Ltd, the Club has enjoyed major investment in all areas. Headed by CEO Mark Ashton, the new management team is investing time, money, and resource into returning Ipswich Town to its former glory.

Significant investment continues to be made in the infrastructure of the Club, the most important part being the people. We are as committed to building an ambitious, hard-working, passionate, and energetic team off the pitch as on it.

Purpose of the Role:

To assist with the long-term vision of Ipswich Town Football Club in identifying and recruiting the most talented young players for the Club. This involves the implementation of identification, recruitment and scouting strategies for the Academy across the Player Performance Pathway of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) under the Head of Academy Recruitment, whilst striving to identify and recruit the most talented young players available in adherence with the Player Profiles the Club is seeking to recruit.

Key Tasks/ Job Responsibilities:

· Identification and recruitment of players across the Player Performance Pathway in adherence with Club Players Profiles.

· Develop knowledge of all teams & players in allocated leagues

· Develop relationships with local non-Academy football teams.

· Liaise with local non-Academy football teams to organise games with the Academy Centre programmes. (When requested).

· To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of non-Academy players.

· Monitor and liaise with the Lead Recruitment Officer of the area.

· Submit match reports for each game attended on the Performance Management Application (“PMA”).

· Ensure Scouting Policy and Protocol is adhered to when attending games.

· Administration as required, including information for payroll.

· To continue to upskill knowledge in the role by attending Club CPD events.

Information about the role:

1. Attend 2-4 games per week based on the allocated age group

2. You may be asked to undertake additional duties to those above, either on a temporary or permanent basis, which the Club reasonably believes you are capable of carrying out, or for which you will be trained.
