The Edinburgh team is seeking a Principal Mixed Signal Design Engineer to grow its talented Consumer Audio group located in the city center of the Scottish capital. The successful candidate will join a diverse team that is exciting, supportive, and eager to share its knowledge. As a member of the Audio design team, you will be designing the next generation of high-performance audio solutions defining the way devices are operated, the way music is enjoyed, and the way people connect to each other. The ubiquity of connected devices as well as the form factor reduction in audio peripheral is pushing the boundaries of existing solutions, and calling for novel approaches.
The group is seeking an experienced Analog/mixed-signal Design Engineering Lead with Audio or power conversion experience to work on the development of new product solutions for portable consumer applications, engaging directly with our Tier 1 OEMs, along with mentoring opportunities.
Responsibilities

Leading the detailed definition and architecture development of high-performance mixed signal devices

IC block design, transistor-level circuit design and simulation

Conducting technical presentations to ADI’s internal engineering team and customers

Using recommended design and verification techniques, tools & flows to produce efficient designs which meet all specified functional, power and timing objectives

Successful integration of blocks into larger mixed-signal systems

Supporting other job functions such as layout, lab evaluation and test to ensure successful delivery meeting all requirements

Continuing to improve analog design methodologies consistent with the group’s wider business objectives to reduce time and cost to market
Requirements
-
M.S. or Ph.D. Electronic Engineering degree with 10+ years’ experience as an analog designer or mixed signal lead

Candidates must have a good knowledge of analog and mixed signal electronics, tools and flows

Design experience with switching power supply circuits such as buck / boost converters as well as precision amplifiers, bandgaps, bias circuits, and LDOs

The successful candidate will be expected to take a full cell or system ownership role and contribute to the development of new products from architecture selection to implementation and debug

Strong people leadership, inter-personal, teamwork, and communication skills are required

Some limited travel should be expected
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Class-D designs for audio applications

Understanding of ADC/DAC design and digital signal processing concepts

Experience debugging ICs and associated evaluation systems in a lab environment
