Bedford Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for a specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker.
This is a new position that has been created to provide specialist support to Domestic Abuse Survivors.
You will work as part of the council’s Housing Options Service and provide floating support to customers fleeing domestic abuse. Working with internal and external colleagues you will help to ensure that accommodation offered is safe and appropriate to need. A key aspect of the role is to provide emotional and practical support, helping clients to move-on and make positive life changes.
You should be a good communicator and able to advocate on behalf of clients. You will manage a caseload and produce support plans and detailed reports, attending multi-disciplinary meetings as and when required. Vital to this role is an awareness of data-protection, safeguarding and child-protection issues. The council is also seeking DAHA accreditation and you will be part of this exciting new development.
You will be based at the Customer Services Centre in Horne Lane but be expected to travel to customers’ homes, so a clean, current driving licence and access to a car for work is an essential requirement.
You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to demonstrate excellent experience in working with vulnerable people and producing fantastic outcomes.
The post is fixed term for 1 year with a possibility to extend.
We look forward to receiving your application!
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
