We have a fantastic opportunity for a Dispensary/Kennel Assistant to join our team, with potential to develop into a Student Veterinary Nurse position.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to work across our Exmouth Veterinary practices, fulfilling the role of dispensary and kennel assistant. It is intended that the successful candidate will spend the first month of the role working closely with our veterinary nurses in the kennels and prep areas learning how the veterinary practice works on a day-to-day basis, before undertaking training for the role of dispensary assistant. This is a full time position working 40 hours per week Monday-Friday.
Duties associated with being a kennel assistant include packing theatre kits, maintaining high standards of cleanliness in our clinical and non-clinical areas and supporting the clinical and non-clinical teams as required to deliver outstanding patient care and administrative support. Training will also be provided to support the reception team in preparation for undertaking student nurse training. The candidate will need to be able to multitask, be able to follow processes and protocols whilst always having regard for compliance and regulatory requirements associated with the veterinary profession. The successful candidate will be diligent, have excellent time keeping skills and be prepared to work in a fast paced and sometimes high stress environment.
Our veterinary practices are RCVS accredited small animal general practices with advanced practitioners in medicine and surgery offering a full range of treatments to patients including ultrasound, x-ray, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, advanced dentistry, chemotherapy and medical investigations.
Requirements for SVN training include 5 GCSE grade C or above (4-9), including English language, mathematics and science. Post GCSE qualifications will also be an advantage.
The salary for this position will be in line with National Minimum Wage +3% cost of living increase.
