JOB TITLE: Health Care Support Worker
HOURS: Full Time / Part Time
PLACE OF WORK: Based at both The Deeping Practice and Glinton Surgery
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Practice Nurse, Practice Manager

The Deepings Practice is a large practice based in Market Deeping with a branch site at Glinton, we serve over 24,000 patients. The Deepings practice has a large team of clinical and non-clinical staff lead by seven partners and a full senior management team. We have a CQC score of Good and strive for excellence in all areas of patient care. We have a strong focus on health promotion and personalised care, supporting patients to make informed decisions about their health and social care. We are a dynamic, friendly, and supportive team with experience in training GPs and other healthcare professionals.
Job Summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the Senior & Deputy Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Main Duties:
· BP Monitoring.
· New patient health checks/CVD screening.
· ECG recording.
· Phlebotomy.
· Urinalysis.
· Chaperoning duties.
· Assisting the surgeons with minor operations and theatre surgical procedures.
· Organisation of stock levels and ordering.
· Correctly labelling all specimens and ensuring their safe dispatch.
· Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording.
· Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
· Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care.
· Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
· Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.
· Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.
· Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.
· Providing care to housebound patient’s in their home/ care home.
· To form and maintain good working relationships with all members of the Primary Health Care Team colleagues and members of attached staff.

- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
- Reporting potential risks identified.

- Participate in audit where appropriate.
