If so, we are looking for a healthcare assistant who is passionate about the care of patients to join our well-established Critical Care team at East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust based at Colchester Hospital site, delivering a 24/7 service.
You will be highly motivated, and willing to work within our team of nurses and healthcare assistants to provide excellent support to our patients and their families, as well as contribute to the smooth running of our Critical Care Unit.
Depending on your level of experience, you will develop your competence and confidence through a programme of supervised practice, critical care specific competencies and a series of development days specifically for Band 3 staff. You will initially start in a Band 2 developmental post, rising to Band 3 on completion of the critical care healthcare assistant competency package. (Band 2 starting salary from £18,005 per annum pro rata). You will already have completed your Care Certificate.
You must be able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights and weekends. We are unable to offer set shifts patterns.
In this role you will work within a Clinical Specialist team and contribute to activities and projects with the goal of professional and practice development.
You will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well in a team and be able to work flexibly according to the day-to-day needs of the unit.
The Critical Care Units form part of the East of England Critical Care Delivery Network and both sites utilise a paperless clinical information system.
Applicants will be expected to undertake internal rotation and weekend duties.

- To support the clinical health care team in maintaining an efficient environment suitable for the care of critically ill adults and children
- To assist the Registered Nurse in provision of delegated nursing care to patients
- To support relatives/carers in Critical Care Unit (CCU)
- To work within Trust, divisional and Unit guidelines and competencies
- To contribute to the continuing development of clinical practice through participation in a Clinical Specialist Nursing Team
