Job Description
We are looking for a (QHSSE) Marine Superintendent. Your primary role is to ensure safe operations of the vessels and compliance to all international marine requirements. You assists in the implementation and upkeep of the Integrated Management System (IMS) and will be required to conduct regular ship/office audits/inspections to ensure compliance to the statutory requirements of the ISM, ISPS, MLC and various ISO standards.
You are also responsible for conducting navigational audits. You provide guidance to the Master on board for nautical matters and also conduct incident investigation on board the vessel, when required. You promote and develop a culture of safety and continuous improvement in pursuit of organisational objectives.
You are expected to possess a sound understanding, knowledge and experience of ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, Maritime Labour Convention Marine Operations, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 requirements.
Your role
You conduct internal ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and inspections for assigned vessels and you conduct navigational audits. You also prepare vessels for external ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and assist the Vessel Teams with developing corrective and preventive actions and root cause analysis from internal and external ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and follow up for closure;
You conduct internal audits in FS offices;
You assist in preparations for external office DoC audits / client inspections;
You lead level 2 & higher incident investigations; assist in Level 1 investigations where required
You prepare review meetings and present incident investigation reports for senior management where required. You also prepare lessons learned and preventive actions from incidents, NCRs and share across the fleet;
You work on maintaining Integrated Management System (IMS) updates with consistent improvement to produce quality, accuracy, adequate and efficient procedures. You provide and develop constructive new ideas;
You advise the vessel teams/shore organization on compliance with any upcoming rules / regulations and carry out training for IMS procedures for crew onboard and shore organisation.
Your track record
You possess good oral and written communication skills
You have seagoing experience, preferably in a relevant position;
You have a good understanding, knowledge and experience of ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, Marine Operations, ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO9001;
You are experienced with ISM/ISPS/MLC/various ISO standards auditor (lead auditor is welcome) and you are an experienced (lead) incident investigator;
It’s a plus if you have a Certificate of Competency (Deck);
You are willing to travel to vessels and offices.
