ABP Yetminster is looking to recruit a Junior Environmental Officer to take responsibility for overseeing the environmental performance of the site. An excellent opportunity for a candidate who has or will be completing their degree this year. You will have the opportunity to develop and grow with the role.

ABP - Yetminster is one of two sites within ABP specialising in the production of premium quality lamb products. Producing a full range of high-quality lamb and mutton from whole carcass to graded cuts for retail and food service customers. This includes 'Dorset Crown' which is a range of premium products local to the area which are processed and packed at the Yetminster site.
Junior Environmental Officer Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with British,
European Legislation.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements for the site EA permit,
- Keep ISO 1400 standards relevant and up to date with the site's activities,
- Carry out and submit all weekly, monthly, bi-annual, and annual ISO 14001 reports and paperwork in accordance with group standard,
- Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling,
environmental Health, conservation, and renewable energy.
- Lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices
- Liaise with relevant bodies such as EA, local authorities, and public bodies
- Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to management and
regulatory bodies.
- Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the impact of
emerging environmental issues
- Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical, and social responsibility and
address any issues arising
- Preparing reports for the company, environmental agencies, and government
bodies.
- Develop and implement environmental management systems to continually
improve the impact of the organisation on the environment
- Train staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities
- Participate in environmental education and research
- Support and drive the environmental community engagement activities such as
tree plant, and other similar activities
- Manage the sites surrounds including grassed areas and planted borders through
ABP's groundman or external support
- Take responsibility for all site project budgets relating to environmental spend
- Ensure the weekly running cost of the WWTP is monitored
- Understand and report on, the overall cost of utilities in the business
The Ideal Candidate
- You must be able to demonstrate previous experience of working within a
manufacturing environment preferably but not essential Food Industry
- Educated to degree level covering subjects such as environment and earth sciences,
environmental engineering, or relevant field. Postgraduate degrees are increasingly
required as specialisation in particular fields is advantageous.
