Glasgow Life is looking for a Volunteer Officer to join us on a full time, fixed term contract for a period up to 31 August 2023. As a Volunteer Officer you will be joining our in-demand 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships team in Glasgow Life. You will be part of a dedicated team which supports the delivery of the pan-Scotland Volunteer Programme for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Glasgow Life is the strategic lead for events in the city. The team invests to attract, create and grow major cultural and sporting events. We deliver high-profile events, including the Merchant City Festival and Glasgow Mela. Our team also organise the World Pipe Band Championships and Glasgow's winter events. We are preparing to deliver the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023. We are also coordinating a programme of activities as the European Capital of Sport 2023. And we are building a team to deliver the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024. Our team work on behalf of the Glasgow Events Board. We act as an initial point of contact for events coming to the city. This includes working with local, national and international partners to maximise the benefits of events to the city. We aim to position and promote Glasgow as a world-leading event destination. Events boost the city’s tourism economy and provide memorable moments.

In 2023, Glasgow and locations across Scotland will host the UCI Cycling World Championships. The event brings together 13 world championships into one. Glasgow Life will deliver the sport competition, events and additional programmes in the city on behalf of the Cycling World Championships. We are expanding our team to deliver the world’s biggest-ever cycling event. Glasgow leads the way in hosting major cultural and sporting events. The role
As a Volunteer Officer, you’ll be an integral part of the team by supporting the planning and delivery of the championships volunteer programme. Reporting to the Volunteer Manager and working alongside an established team, working with passion and drive to support and motivate a diverse group of volunteers throughout their journey to the Championships. You will have excellent communication and customer service skills and experience managing large amounts of data accurately.

If you’re interested in joining us as a Volunteer Officer you’ll need:
- Experience of supporting volunteers and providing excellent customer experience
As Volunteer Officer your role will include;
- Working as part of a team planning and delivering a pan-Scotland volunteer programme across a multi-disciplined sporting event
- Assisting the delivery of the volunteer selection, training and rostering as well as planning all aspects of the event delivery
- Ensure that volunteer experience and welfare are consistent across the programme, providing advise and guidance on best practice in volunteer management
- Producing reports and updates on all aspects of the volunteer programme, ensuring accuracy in the detail provided
- Representing the Volunteer Functional Area across partners and stakeholders
