ROLE SUMMARY
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
Leading all supply chain activities within the Innovation Development Centre to support the development & deployment of multi product category consumer relevant innovation to market, at speed and at scale:
Ensuring that the Innovation Development Centre has a fit for purpose, fully functioning and optimized supply chain to support all manufacturing and prototyping requests, including planning; material ordering, exports & imports management; control of tobacco across the site (including reporting to relevant authorities e.g. HMRC); inventory control; infestation control, MES and effective scheduling of work for all activities within the IDC.
Driving digitalization within the IDC to improve and simplify ways of working whilst also ensuring the calculation of timely reporting of Supply Chain metrics, diagnosis and resolution of issues – driving continual improvement.
Leading customer engagement on behalf of the IDC to drive effective dialogue with all stakeholders within R&D, Product Development and cross-functionally (e.g. Operations) to help the IDC deliver the services required, whilst developing and instigating new working procedures and processes by using a thorough knowledge and understanding of supply chain principles.
What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?
Lead and manage all aspects of the Supply Chain and associated warehousing facilities within the IDC, ensuring capabilities are fit for the future to support BAT’s multi category product development ambitions.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead & manage the IDC Supply Chain Team (multi-category), providing technical guidance and support as required. Manage, motivate, direct, coach and develop a diverse, high performing team to meet established goals and build organizational capability-
Drive digitalization of the IDC, owning, developing and maximizing value from MES and other systems used within the team including automation of reporting utilizing BI (or equivalent) as appropriate.

Embed a culture of Continuous Improvement (focus on technology and business processes) through the application of appropriate methodologies (e.g. IWS/CI/L6S, including Value Stream Mapping) – helping to maintain & enhance IDC Capabilities;

Continually assess supply chain capability (People, Process & Technology) and assess if fit for purpose for current and future requirements

Ensure completion with all required documentation and compliance for all appropriate business processes (e.g. Production planning, Stock Management; ISO and any specific quality standards) whilst ensuring a safe working environment that complies with all relevant BAT and legal EH&S requirements;

Own and ensure compliance with HMRC License conditions regarding the control of tobacco managed throughout the IDC, including that all relevant import/export documentation is completed, and relevant reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner such as TP7, NIRU etc;

Ensure that the IDC has the necessary resources available to track and understand changes to import/export regulations including dangerous goods and/or unique licenses required;

Oversee embedded Labstat resource on-site; define, track and report relevant performance metrics relating to contract performance;

Ensure Tobacco Infestation policy is defined, implemented and adhered to and issues are raised immediately with local infestation coordinator;

Ensure the effective utilization of warehouse space both on and off site – e.g enforcement of shelf-life guidelines; highlight & resolving capacity constraints and effective management of external warehousing facilities to ensure IDC receives the appropriate service whilst ensuring value for money

Provide input in developing project plans such as estimating costs, illustrating project timelines and milestones;

Ensure that IDC is aligned & integrated into wider R&D, product development and planning and portfolio processes, helping establish and maintain and effective and efficient ‘enabling’ capability;

Engage with SNO and other key supply chain partners in defining/agreeing Service Level Agreements, track and report performance, as required;

Budget – forecast, plan & track spend. Adhere to financial process and controls.

Performance Management - maintain/report on relevant supply chain performance metrics – including OTIF; Destruction; Resource & Storage utilization, Issues impacting performance;

Share Best Practice across BAT’s global innovation development footprint e.g. Pilot Plants; Design Partners and/or suppliers including Global Operations as required;

Active awareness of technical developments in supply chain & capability development; innovation development and manufacturing, proactively scouting best practice from relevant industries and academic sources;
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE ESSENTIAL
Experience Required

Typically, a graduate or commensurate professional with relevant experience;

Proven track record to drive effective changes in processes and people’s behavior
-
Relevant technical experience resulting in a thorough knowledge of supply chain best practices. Experience in highly regulated businesses would be advantageous;

Good knowledge of management approaches (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2, MSP, ISO9001);

Experience of working within ISO9001 systems and processes

Blend of business analysis and project management skills, business focused and proven change agent;

Ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the often-disparate members of the project teams.

Ability to develop and present proposals (both verbally and written) to directly influence Business Managers at senior level as well as gain commitment to change across all levels of the business.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
