Having recently opened our sixth depot in Nottingham, we have ambitious plans for further growth and business expansion.
Our rapid growth means that we currently operate from six locations - our main head office in Swadlincote in the East Midlands, Tipton in the West Midlands, Nottingham, Canvey Island, Bristol, and Glasgow.
Our yard operatives are multiskilled and carry out a variety of yard duties while ensuring orders are picked, labelled correctly and on time ready for delivery. This is a physically demanding role in a busy depot where Health and Safety regulations will be adhered to at all times. You play a vital role in ensuring excellent standards of service are provided.
- Follow and comply with all Health and Safety practices, policies, procedures and relevant Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- ‘Clean as you go’ for safety and cleanliness all stock should be in designated areas. No litter or metal bandings are to be left on the floor. All equipment including tools/ timber bearers / stillages are to be in correct area when not in use.
- Safely loading and unloading a variety of vehicles (including customers) using a forklift with the aid of pallets, skids, or timbers
- Goods unloaded are inspected against manifest and quality. Once unloaded and inspected the goods are safely racked away in the correct location and relevant paperwork filled out correctly and handed to the office.
- Goods and materials loaded by you are checked for accuracy and quality. Loaded safely and securely onto the correct vehicle. Correct paperwork to be completed accurately and handed to office as soon as possible.
- Products are safely moved around the yard to designated areas then stacked safely and securely
- All paperwork relating to goods in and out is to be filled correctly and handed to the office as soon as possible.
- Collections need to be detracked, ensuring the correct concise information is taken at point of collection before customer leaves. This information will be sent to the customer.
- Safely pick, label and check orders off Safely pick, label and check orders off, loading jobs away into racking awaiting deliveries ensuring no FOC’s through picking errors.
- Ensuring you’ve accurately picked products and accompanied accessories then loaded safely in picking area ready for collection / delivery
- All errors relating to quality and quantity are to be raised immediately to the depot manager
- General housekeeping to be maintain throughout the day including maintaining stock levels, stock rotation, stock counts.
- Carry out stock line checks daily and assisting in any stock investigations and general stocktaking duties every quarter
- Responsible for doing forklift daily checks, fuelling up, basic periodic maintenance.
- Report any defects on any equipment that you are using to your line manager.
- Undertake any additional tasks as may reasonably be required from time to time. This includes travel to head office and other depots for training and support
You have experience of working with Steel essential
- You have an accredited Forklift Truck License essential
- You are able to work well on your own using your initiative
- You are a great team player, helping colleagues to complete their tasks when required.
- You are courteous, friendly and professional to your colleagues and customers ensuring customers leave feeling valued and respected.
- You communicate well to all however especially to your line manager. You ensure errors, customer feedback and leads are given to your line manager promptly.
- You have great care and attention to detail
- You have good numeracy and literacy skills
- You remain calm in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
- Be flexible with start and finish times dependent on business requirements
- You observe and comply with quality, environment, health, and safety procedures. All employees are responsible for health and safety of both themselves and that of the whole site
Salary
£12.10 per hour, 45 hours per week Monday to Friday
