Pharmacy Dispenser - (Band 2 progressing to Senior Dispenser Band 3)
We have an exciting opportunity to further develop your skills and experience, by undertaking a range of different roles within one job, with the added benefit that once fully trained and competent you will progress from Band 2 to a Senior Dispenser Band 3
Working on rotation within the Pharmacy department in a number of different service areas the post holder will undertake the following duties:
- Dispense accurately for patient discharge & out patient clinics
- Aseptically prepare Chemotherapy treatments for clinics and wards
- Medicines Top-up service on Wards and the Intensive Care Unit and will assist with other medicines related duties as required

Would you like to develop your skills in Hospital Pharmacy and undertake a wide range of duties to gain valuable experience in key service areas?
The post holder will assist a team of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to provide Dispensing services to patients, preparation of Chemotherapy treatments, and a Medicines top up service to Wards.
Hours: 37.5 per week Monday to Friday + emergency weekend working and Bank holiday days on rotation.

We are committed to staff development and training. We have comprehensive training programmes in place for all service areas and the opportunity to work with highly trained staff to complete in-house training in aseptic production working in the Beacon chemotherapy preparation unit.
Progression from Band 2 to Band 3 will be on successful completion of all relevant training units.

The Pharmacy Chemotherapy production unit is based in the Beacon Cancer Centre where all treatments are prepared.. On rotation within the Pharmacy department working in a number of different service areas the post holder will undertake the following duties:
Dispense accurately for In-patient/Discharge & Out-patient prescriptions for the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and for other contracted services as required.
Aseptically prepare Chemotherapy treatments for clinics and wards, and will assist with room preparation and essential environmental monitoring.
Medicines Top-up service on Wards & Intensive Care Unit + assists with other medicines related duties as required
Will adapt to using a range of computer systems in order to provide services.
The post holder will be required to work on the week-end emergency service rota & Bank holiday days on rotation.
