Salary: Study and Academic Skills Teaching £32.92 per hour; English Language Modules £32.92 per hour; Learning Support, Tutorials and Meetings £18.76 per hour
We are recruiting an experienced English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutor to teach English Language and Academic Skills to international students in a Pathways College

About the role
We’re looking for an experienced teacher who is able to take on both language and academic skills classes with international students of various abilities. You will be preparing students for an English language examination based on the four skills and working with students practising Academic Skills for written and spoken assessments.
The English Language and Academic Skills team support our subject teams in the college. Our students are preparing for a wide variety of programmes in the University of Brighton at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Reporting to the Academic Leader, you will be working with module coordinators in the planning, preparation, delivery and marking of language and skills modules, the role includes:
Delivering lessons and other learning activities that engage and inspire students to achieve and learn effectively-
Creating and updating active learning and assessment content, and sharing these across the Kaplan International Pathways network

Embedding appropriate digital technologies in learning and assessment methods to add value, create efficiency and improve engagement

Working with colleagues to ensure consistency of delivery of content and assessment processes and sharing these across the Kaplan International Pathways network

Contributing subject expertise where required for content and assessments across a range of modules

Supporting students to develop their e-portfolio

Developing and implementing a range of innovative teaching methods that engage and meet the needs of all students

Devising and delivering a range of enrichment and enhancement activities that raise students’ aspirations and achievements using relevant industry and academic networks

Developing and implementing module examinations and other forms of assessment, marking, providing feedback to students and moderation and standardisation

Supporting the use of digital technologies in learning activities and develop your own competencies through personal and professional development;

Assisting with the development and maintenance of the College Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and performance and use these to inform reports to stakeholders

Participating in regular meetings with teaching and support staff and represent the College at appropriate events and meetings

Acting as a Learning Advisor including reviewing students’ progress, checking on VLE engagement, monitoring welfare and offering support/intervention where required

Participating in all relevant administration and organisational tasks; registering student attendance; fulfilling any other duties as designated by the College Management

About you
Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes and Academic Skills to International Students Foundation level and above-
A CELTA or equivalent, but preferably DELTA and/or MA in Linguistics or related. Other qualifications such as PGCE would be an advantage.
