Job Description

Job description
At King’s, we continuously strive to be an inclusive, culturally aware and culturally competent organisation that respects the differences of our community by providing an environment that both acknowledges and celebrates diversity and embraces inclusion. The abilities, achievements, and successes of the IoPPN are entirely dependent on our people and our community.
At the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, the second largest faculty of King’s College London, our staff and students work to transform care for people who are affected by mental health and neurological conditions, through world-class research, education, and training, and to serve our communities locally and globally. We are at the forefront of global mental health research and through our partnerships foster research and training in policy, prevention, treatment, and care around the world.
This is a key role within the IoPPN Culture, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI) Team. If successful, you will support the process in achieving IoPPN’s strategic goal to create the best environment where all staff and students feel included and fostering diversity in perspectives, approaches, research, and education.
Working with the CEDI Lead, Vice-Dean (CEDI), School Leads and the diverse CEDI Committee, you will be responsible for providing essential administrative support, building networks and partnerships, developing faculty CEDI knowledge and leading diverse projects. This will include but is not limited to ensuring effective running and minuting of CEDI Committee meetings, supporting task & finish working groups and networks, communicating CEDI messages, drafting policies, and leading other projects that ensure embedding and sharing of CEDI across the faculty and King’s.
It is an exciting time to join the team as we are starting work to implement a new approach to our CEDI activities. This role is a great opportunity if you are an energetic, enthusiastic, and collaborative worker interested in expanding and/or applying your knowledge around EDI in Higher Education with the aims of progressing into an EDI career.
This post will be offered on an indefinite contract
This is a full-time post. However, applications for part-time and job-shares will be considered.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure effective and productive CEDI Committee meetings:
  • To work closely with Co-Chairs, CEDI Lead and Committee members to co-design agendas and objectives for meetings.
  • Organising, planning and scheduling meetings including room bookings, lunch and circulating materials.
  • Recording and monitoring implementation of agreed actions.
  • Undertaking desktop research that informs committee discussion and supports implementing agreed actions and initiatives.
  • To support the development and management of Task and Finish Groups that will enable the completion of four CEDI Goals focused around ‘Communication and Engagement’; ‘Recruitment, Retention and Progression’; ‘EDI Learning and Development’; ‘Equality Analysis, Research and EDI Data’
  • Support the CEDI Lead to review and implement aspects of the IoPPN CEDI Action Plans:
  • Undertaking desktop research to identify examples of good practice and sharing these examples.
  • Collate and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to inform evidence-based decision making
  • As needed, create summary data and conduct basic data analysis to identify diversity and inclusion trends in staff and student data, so that key areas for CEDI action can be identified and measure impact of any interventions.
  • Lead a range of staff and student events that celebrate and share good CEDI practice, support engagement in CEDI initiatives and connect across our community (which may require occasional evening events and outside of core working hours will be required) including liaising with speakers / guests and creating briefs and event plans.
  • Develop strong and effective relationships with a range of stakeholders across the faculty and wider college.
  • Effectively communicate key messages through appropriate channels, communicating CEDI activity, importance of CEDI and promoting specific events:
  • Support the continuous review, refresh, streamlining of existing communications mechanisms to improve accessibility and impact of resources.
  • Contributing to existing Department / Faculty communication streams including creating emails, articles and other communications including social media content.
  • Updating web and intranet pages and SharePoint sites
  • Support the development of toolkits and resources around CD&I issues for staff and students.
  • Build relationships with academic, research and professional services staff and students across the organisation to maximise engagement in key priorities.
  • General Duties
  • Facilitate an inclusive culture and ethos working across the IoPPN community.
  • Spend 10-15% of time contributing to cross Faculty / University initiatives and professional development
The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
