International Strategy Policy Officer:

This role offers an opportunity to play a part in delivering for His Majesty’s Government on this exciting agenda. You will get to grips with priority policy areas, cooperating effectively with others, and thinking critically and strategically to determine how best to deliver DCMS’s international objectives. The role involves close collaboration with DCMS policy teams.

This role would suit those wanting to develop or gain international experience, or cross-cutting strategic thinking. The work can be fast-paced - you should be resilient in managing a varied workload and changing priorities.

Euro-Atlantic Policy Officer:

In this role you would work closely with policy leads across DCMS and Whitehall to coordinate DCMS policy in the Euro-Atlantic region and identify opportunities to advance our priorities on the Euro-Atlantic stage. Your role would see you work closely with International teams across Whitehall and in particular with the Cabinet Office and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. You would provide policy, project, governance and administrative support across the Euro-Atlantic team.

The role will provide a great mix of experience in policy, project delivery, logistics, communications and international engagement.

The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experience:

Essential requirements:

  • Ability to deliver timely and high quality results across multiple strands of work. You will need to prioritise and manage workloads intelligently and work with focus and drive.
  • Ability to support the delivery of wide ranging projects and programmes in order to further organisational objectives and aims.
  • Proven experience of working with a variety of stakeholders and building relationships, including outside of your team, to deliver shared objectives.
  • Ability to keep up to date with emerging geopolitical issues and international trends, seek out and share experience to develop knowledge.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience working on international issues or awareness of international issues.
  • Experience in writing briefing and advice for ministers or senior decision makers

The interview:

The interview process will assess behaviours and strengths and potentially include a presentation.

New entrants are expected to join on the minimum of the pay band.

This role can be based in Manchester, Darlington or Belfast or Loughborough. The hub locations are displayed on the job advert. Not all hub locations have confirmed office space yet - successful applicants will be expected to work remotely until this becomes available.
