Full Job Description - AWAKE NIGHTS

I am a young lady living in Earlsheaton, Dewsbury. I live in an adapted bungalow and have a pet tortoise. I have very complex medical conditions, and require skilled and dedicated complex care assistants to join my team. Despite my challenging conditions it does not stop me from enjoying life to the fullest!

If you work for me you will assist me in all aspects of my daily life from assistance with washing and dressing, basic domiciliary duties, meal prep and more skilled tasks such as JEJ tubes, injections & syringe drivers and assisting me in IVs line care (training provided). But you will also chat to me, partake in activities such as baking, knitting, fused glass making in my home kiln and a myriad of other hobbies I enjoy.

Despite needing a significant amount of help, I do like to try have some independence. You will be trained in all aspects of the role & I will guide you while performing tasks. There will be times when I am sleeping as I get a lot of fatigue and you will have some downtime, other times I may want you to sit and watch tv or have a chat to me.

You will become part of a wider team of PAs, previous PA's in this position have gained a range of new skills both care/clinical and also by me teaching you my hobbies such as knitting, how to make a glass dish or jewellery or some of my yummy baking treats which you always get to sample.

Pay is £12 hr ( with pay rises / reviews depending on qualifications/training)

Shifts done via rota - all breaks are paid breaks. You enter availability on rota system and are allocated shifts, looking for bank, part time and full time staff to work days and nights.

Main shift times are;

Awake Night 10pm-10am *
[The awake night does involve some downtime where I am asleep, other times assisting with medications/personal care]

Other shift times: [Split Shifts]
Full Day 10am-10pm
Early 10am-4pm (times may vary)
Late 4pm -10pm (times may vary)
*Ability to pick up other shifts or occasionally trade days with notice*

Annual Leave - Statutory Entitlement

Desirable Skills/Interest in Learning About (Not all Essential):

• PEG Venting Tubes
• JEJ Feeding Tubes (for meds)
• Catheter/Suprapubic Catheter
• Stoma/ Ileostomy
• Artificial Nutrition & IV Medication [assisting me with my IV line]
• Autism
• Driving Licence + Willing to drive adapted vehicle
