The Team

The Business Centre department of the College consists of employer engagement, work experience, administration and
apprenticeship delivery teams who work together closely to develop the employability and career progression of students,
including apprenticeships. Working in collaboration with employers to support the recruitment needs of the local business
community.

Our close proximity to local communities puts us in a unique position to meet both the learning and training needs of individuals
and employers throughout Northamptonshire. As part of the college’s strategy for employer engagement it is vitally important
that there is a proactive approach to communicating with local businesses to ensure that they are fully aware of the college
products and services and that there is focused business development activity to work in partnership with local employers to
meet the local skills need. The primary purpose of this post will be to account manage employers to promote strong working
partnerships in order to support in curriculum planning and support them with the recruitment pipeline of their business, ensuring
that we maintain and grow relationships to develop career opportunities and progression of students and NEETs in
Northamptonshire and the surrounding area.

The Role

To secure suitable work experience placements full time study programme students across curriculum areas of the College.
Working with local employers to secure vocationally relevant work placements, offering careers advice and guidance and
working with internal departments such as student services, curriculum areas and Apprenticeship teams to maximise
opportunity for career options and progression.

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:

  • Experience of employer engagement
  • Operation and maintenance of Microsoft office
  • Experience of providing high levels of customer care
  • Experience of working with a CRM system
  • Careers advice and guidance is desirable.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Willingness to work flexibly
  • Work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Able to work to set and monitor targets and performance.

Role Specification

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific

  • Liaise with Curriculum Area managers and tutors over work experience to identify specific requirements for learners or
course groups


  • Contact existing College employers and partners to arrange suitable work experience placements for students
  • Undertake lead generation activities to identify new work experience placements with local employers
  • Carry our health and safety risk assessments on all work experience placements at the employer
  • Identify and promote opportunities to students
  • Maintain regular contact with employers
  • Coordinate careers employer events
  • Undertake employer visits and conduct basic health and safety and safeguarding assessments
  • Arrange and deliver information sessions regarding work experience for students throughout the year
  • To provide advice and guidance on work placement requirements and opportunities via a number of paper and
electronic media
  • Offer students 1:1 support regarding their work experience
  • Ensure that activity is well planned, monitored and evaluated to ensure customer satisfaction and high quality of provision
  • Coordinate evidence required for monitoring work experience placements and report on numbers against target
  • To update and maintain central college database of work experience placements including Pro-Engage.
