15. Approve and code invoices in line with RDCK Purchasing Policy
16. Liaise with other utilities workers for location of underground works
17. Provide regulatory and project related reporting
18. Work with consultants on system design and construction
19. Coordinate projects which are managed by the Water Operation Manager or Project Manager
20. Work in coordination with other RDCK departments, governing bodies and regulators
21. Provide advice on capital plans and budgets
22. Other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Two years of Lead hand or Supervisory experience (experience in waterworks construction
preferred)
Three years’ experience in water works construction
Equipment operating experience
Two years’ experience working with regulatory bodies ie. Interior Health, MOTI and a demonstrated
ability to engage with and understand application processes etc.
Demonstrated experience leading capital projects
Experience managing and maintaining mid-large scale budgets
Demonstrated experience working with contractors and other project stakeholders
High School Diploma or equivalent
Water Distribution Level 1 (or willingness and ability to achieve level 1 within one year)
Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA1)
Preference will be given to applicants with:
a. Confined Space Entry Certificate
b. Trenching Safety Certificate
c. WHMIS training
Current BC Driver’s License with satisfactory Drivers Abstract
Satisfactory Criminal Record
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of water distribution skills and preference given to applicants with water
distribution certification
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, direct staff and managing ongoing performance
Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal Acts, Regulations and Guidelines
Working knowledge of AWWA, and MMCD construction standards
Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices for excavation equipment
Demonstrated ability to manage contractual obligations and hold contractors accountable
