An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our diverse and friendly Parking Notice Processing Team. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are confident in their ability to understand multiple processes when dealing with Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) which have been issued by the enforcement team.


Sheffield City Council's parking team is one of the largest Local Authority operators in England. The Notice Processing Team is responsible for, but not limited to, processing PCN appeals, dealing with customer enquiries via email and telephone, administering bay suspension applications, processing appeals at Traffic Penalty Tribunal stage and printing statutory documents. In administering these functions also offering advice and assistance to customers in a way that complies with statutory and procedural requirements.

Sheffield City Council are also developing a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) to improve the district’s air quality. A new Notice Processing team is currently being set up and we are looking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are confident in their ability to understand multiple processes when dealing with Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) which have been issued by the enforcement team in relation to the Clean Air Zone.

The team is part of the Place Hub Service alongside other customer facing and technical processing teams, including Parking. Key areas of work include responding to written appeals made by motorists against PCNs (in line with national regulations and local policy), dealing with emails/telephone calls about cases and processing bay suspensions. The team will work in a Hub alongside colleagues from other service areas such as Planning, Building Control, Licensing and Environmental Regulation and Pest Control.


The successful applicants will be team players, with excellent customer service and communication skills. You would need to be able to use a computer system to process cases as well as use other applications such as Word, Excel and Microsoft Teams. The role will require working as part of a team and being able to organise your own work. There will be a requirement to cover rota duties (as detailed in the attached job description).


The following roles are available –


1 x 37 hours core Notice Processing team (Parking and bus lanes) temporary until 31/12/23


3 X 37 hours CAZ Notice Processing team (Clean Air Zone PCNs) temporary until 29/02/24


Experience of working in a parking related job is not essential in applying for the post if relevant transferable skills and experiences are demonstrated and applicants are willing to learn. We need enthusiastic and motivated individuals to ensure day to day delivery is kept to the very highest standards, whilst maintaining excellent customer care.


The role is a mix of home and office working. This is kept under review in line with Service demands. You will be based at Howden House to meet the needs of the Hub Service.
