Job Description
THE ROLE
In this role you will be responsible for assembling and testing electrical / mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies to ensure they meet specifications on the checklists.
The right candidate for this role will have great organisational and prioritising skills, in order to effectively manage multiple projects at once.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Receives partially completed mechanical or electrical/ electronic assemblies or parts from Dept 11A or the Special Projects Section and assembles these according to the build procedure checklist.
- Accurately follow cicruit, wiring, and system diagrams to wire and assemble various complete assemblies.
- Creating build procedure checklists if required during assembly.
- Test assembled products using the Qual Division approved checlists, correcting any defects in liaison with Production and Qual teams.
- Assemble all additional parts called for on an order, such as special cables or brackets. These may be bought-in components.
- Pass final products to Qual for configuration and approval to Ship.
- Cut and prepare wire and cable using the correct tools and processes.
- Solder components with high levels of accuracy within tight timeframes.
- Use a variety of tools, including crimp tools, in order to create high quality parts.
- Attaching wires to connectors and terminals.
- Producing As-Built Documentation in ERP.
- Maintaining test space and equipment, ensuring that space is orderly and test equipment is in working condition.
- Ensuring correct batches and/ or serial numbers are used at all times and are identifiable through the process.
- Prioritise completion deadlines as directed by line manager.
- Raise any queries in diagrams or build information to line manager as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience:
− Time served apprenticeship/ qualification or proven experience in a wiring and test engineer role
Professional Skills:
− Able to confidently read circuit diagrams and wiring diagrams
− Ability to solder various type connects, from small hirose to D-Type
− Ability to use various crimp tools
Personal Skills:
− Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
− Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks at once
− Ability to work with checklists
